Lactic Acid
What it does in our skin?
Lactic acid, an Alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) produced through
food fermentation like milk, is gentle on dry and moderately
sensitive skin.
In low concentrations, it hydrates, while in higher concentrations, it acts as a potent exfoliator by dissolving lipids on dead cells, promoting cell renewal and improving skin texture.
It’s effective for treating sun-induced blemishes and moisturizing the skin. With a pKa of 3.83, it quickly dissolves above pH 3 levels, with 97.7% dissociation at skin’s physiological pH
Benefits of the encapsulation in the CDS (Corneum Delivery System)
- Maintains the active at a low pH level until the point of delivery
- Facilitates formulations at any pH level without the
encapsulated acid dissociating - A smaller dose of acid is required to obtain the same
amount of non-dissociated acid in the stratum corneum - Greater tolerance compared to free acids
- Gradual delivery to ensure a more sustainable renewal

CORNEUM DELIVERY SYSTEM
Advanced Delivery Systems for Targeted Active Ingredient Efficacy
The active ingredients encapsulated in the Corneum Delivery System are specifically released in the superficial layers of the epidermis, that is, in the stratum corneum, to achieve a more intense and precise effect at this level.
The use of these superficial delivery systems substantially increases the concentration of the active ingredient in the stratum corneum, minimizing penetration into deeper layers.
